Our School

  • We are a four star school with a School Performance Score of 133.8 and labeled  “A School of Academic Excellence”

  • 100% of Fairfield’s teachers are highly qualified

  • Our beautiful campus – thanks to the efforts of dedicated parents, staff and the new “Garden Club”

  • Awarded $500.00 from Caddo Parish and  $17,000.00+ from the state in reward money for academic growth

  • We continue to attract students from across the parish – we have a substantial waiting list

  • Awesome Fairfield Website sponsored by Casaic with teacher-linked web sites

  • The new Library completed and opened this spring

  • LA4 Pre-K program serving 20 – 4 year olds, 12 of these students accepted into the Caddo parish magnet program for the 2008-2009 school year

  • A $100,000.00 8g competitive grant has been written for technology – awaiting word!

  • Web Based Accelerated Reader allowing access to book titles, levels and points from areas outside the school

  • Walk for Education generated $5,351.28 the largest amount collected by any elementary school in the area and earned us prizes of $1,000.00 and $500.  Fairfield “kept” 50% of this money or $2,675.28 + $1, 500.00 = $4,175.64!

  • Collected revenue for:  profit from school pictures $3,396.74, recycled ink cartridges $136.60, profit from 2-school fund raisers $6,578.98, Land’s End $97.48, Target $284.78, Kroger $288.83, Office Depot $170.00.  This money is used to support and supply technology.

Faculty & Staff

  • Emily Parker was Fairfield’s Teacher of the Year and is working on National Board Certification

  • Sharon James was Fairfield’s Support person of the year

  • Stefani Farris was named Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year by the Caddo and LA Council for Social Studies

  • Kendal Blanchard and Erica Gustavson completed new teacher certification

  • A number of teachers recognized in Who’s Who of American Teachers

  • Student Teachers supervised by Patsy Hillidge, Stevendy King, Connie Lerchie, Sherri Stokes

  • Workshops:  Music in Dallas, 8 faculty members were DIEBLS trained, new Social Studies book in-service, multisensory grammar and written expression, LA conference for 1st grade teachers, science fair coordinators workshop, kindergarten book study, Texas Kindergarten conference, 2 teachers presented at the North LA Math Assoc. conference,

  • Mrs. Allien, Cahn, Gaddie and Gustavson completed their Master’s degrees

  • Alliance for Education mini grants:  $4,083.90 – Patsy Hillidge, Carla Fajardo, Danette Strickland, Beth Allen, Anner Means and Sharon Stokes.

  • Shannon Jett certified in adult first aid, CPR and AED training

Students:

  • Perfect Attendance, A/B Honor Roll and Principal’s List recognized each nine weeks.

  • Honor’s program in May to recognize year long achievements

  • Fairfield Student of the Year:  Katelyn Fajardo

  • Presidential Award for Educational Excellence:  4th Graders and  5th Graders

  • Robert Carter received honor of most improved student and attended CFT sponsored award banquet

  • 94% 46/49 of the 5th graders testing for Middle Magnet were accepted

  • School Wide Social Studies and Science Fairs – Regional Winners in both and a Social Studies Project went to state!

  • Walk for Education

  • Cheerleading and Pom Pon girls

     11 students participated in LA Elementary All State Choir
     District VIII Choral Festival – all 1s in Performance & Sight Reading
     Students performed in Showcase at ArtBreak
     4th  & 5th grade Choir performed several times during Christmas
     LA state choral festival – all 1’s in performance and sight reading
     3rd -  5th grade music memory team
     Students participated in the Opera Children’s Choir
     Sang at area retirement homes for holidays

     10 5th grade students chosen to attend a week long summer art camp at Norton’s Art Gallery
     Caroline M.’s work was selected from Art Break to hang at the Fiest-Weiler Cancer Center
     Sara Bush has a piece of art in this year’s yellow pages

  • Talented Art (largest number of students for any school in the parish), Drama and Music Program for qualifying students:  17 art students, 2 drama and 2 music
